How is the spectral confocal sensor calibrated?

  In fact, in order to ensure the accuracy of every measurement result, almost all measuring equipment or systems need to be calibrated before use. Although measuring equipment and systems undergo a rigorous calibration process before leaving the factory, it is not permanent. With the change of temperature, humidity, vibration, light and other factors in the use environment, the measurement equipment and system will be disturbed, and the measurement accuracy will be greatly affected. When using a spectral confocal measurement sensor or system, a calibration process should be performed in order to ensure measurement accuracy.

According to the principle of spectral confocal measurement, the controller needs to analyze the reflected spectral signal. However, sensors in the controller can still detect some signals without measuring the sample. These signals, often referred to as dark signals, consist of stray light reflected by the fiber coupler and the measuring head. The following is the calibration method of spectral confocal sensor manufacturers told us by Shenzhen Liyi Technology.


When measuring the sample, the spectral signal received by the controller is actually composed of the dark signal of the sample and the surface reflected signal, the latter is what we really need. Therefore, in order to obtain the surface reflection signal of the sample, the dark signal needs to be collected and subtracted in advance when processing the measurement data.


The dark signal processing method is to collect the dark signal before the formal measurement, store the gray value information of each pixel of the sensor, store the gray value information of all pixels in the memory, and subtract the gray value of each measurement. The calibration method is as follows:


Start the device and wait 15 minutes until the machine reaches thermal equilibrium.


Raise the measuring head to ensure that there is no debris in the measuring range. For better treatment results, it is recommended to completely cover the measuring head with white paper 3.


Press the dark signal processing button on the device operating software interface, or press the dark signal acquisition entity button on the device panel, and wait for the light intensity and measurement signal indicator to blink to complete the dark signal acquisition process.


According to the color of the three LED signal indicators on the device panel, the dark signal processing result is judged. Green indicates that the dark signal level meets the requirements of all measurement frequencies; Orange indicates that the current dark signal level is too high, but can still meet high frequency measurement applications. Red indicates that the current dark signal level is too high to be measured, and the dark signal acquisition process should be repeated.
